Live Life to the Full

Seeing Don Bosco newspapers and streets poster announcing the Saint’s 200 years of birthday reminds me of my school.
I have studied in Don Bosco. Briefly, Don Bosco is an Italian priest who decided his life to be a father to the young people. For the Italian the word ‘Don’ means priest and Bosco is his last name.
Don Bosco’s ministry for the young has reach the Philippines. Having spent my high school and college years. I am a product of a system that taught about Reason, Religion and Loving kindness.
In Cebu, Philippines. Don Bosco students are traditional known to be an all boys school. Students are holistically trained in mind, body and spirit.
Although Don Bosco had already died, His spirit lives in the Society he had founded–the Salesians of Don Bosco. A community of Priest, Nuns, Brothers and sister decided to the mission of saving the souls of young people.
Don Bosco is known for saying ” Jump, Run, Shout but do not Sin”. I would totally agreed with Don Bosco. His saying simply reminds me to live life to the full. YOLO! You Only Live Once!

Much has been Given, Much is Expected

Back when I was home-schooled. I had to joined different learning groups. One group for sports indoors and also a different group for sports outdoors. Another for music, a singing choir, and theater arts. I believe, no parent would give anything less but an excellent education.

One may think I had different mentors for a group but not really. For most of my mentors they were multi-talented. For example my sport coach was also my musician. Looking back as a youngster, I cannot help but aspire to be like one. Someone, who knows a lot.

One afternoon I had asked my mentor,
"Oh! How great must it be, to be like you! A musician, an athlete, professor, a teacher and even a friend?

My mentor simply said these words,
To someone who receives much, much is also expected.

During those times those words didn't made sense.
Today, it makes a lot of sense.

Overwhelming Surprise!

Sometime ago, I met the mother of one business partner. My first impression was that her mom's face seemed familiar to me. It reminded me of a classmate that I had admired back when I was elementary. You know that 'crush' thing. So, we chatted about my proposal to her mom. The presentation went well. Afterwards both, mom and daughter told me they are heading for a singing practice.

I recalled that my crush happened to be a good singer. During free class activities our teacher would ask her to sing. It dawned to me that she may perhaps be that classmate.

The next time we met I had the chance to check if my speculation was true. Surprise, surprise! She was indeed the same person.

Back then, she was typically a shy talented singer in front of our class.

Fast forward today, she is the opposite. She had change a lot. She's into sports and handles a team.

Friend, what is my point. Your crush today maybe your super crush. Haha... (Nah, that maybe a skin deep reflection)

Life is full of surprise and miracles. Everything happens for a reason. The people and events around us are there for a reason. We may not know it at present but in due time it shall be made known to us.

Matters of the Heart

Photo from the internet
They say majority of Filipinos are emotional.
Most cry when watching a Teleseria (Filipino Television Series)

But I guess everyone is emotional.
Whether be a man or a woman.

Why? Because we are after all human beings.

We are moved by emotions more than logic.
Emotion creations motion.

How have you been using your emotions to help with your daily living?

Back to School

Picture taken from theobservers.net
Today, I went to the school to visit a classmate who is now a teacher.
I was happy to see classroom filled with students at the first week of classes.

There were lot of teachers on the field, of course.
As always, my heart is thankful for the love they give.

Just a reflection came to me. Coming from a corporate world for the last years.
I felt there is a lot of things that needed improvement in terms of facilitates... ahem!
How I wish I can donate... haha (By the way, if you do know of someone who wants to donate. Please let us know. We would gladly to receive it.)

Just for example, having an LCD project or TV for multi-media presentations.
Well, I am not totally an advocate of e-learning but I am afraid it is where the future is heading.

Are we ready for change? It may not be in school alone but change I believe is one thing constant.

How open are we for it?

Social Media Detox

I told my office mate that I would be sending her the message via Facebook.
Then she told me that she had deactivated her Facebook account because is on a "Social Media Detoxification". I was amazed by what she just named it --- Social Media Detoxification. Then I asked what do you mean?

She further told me that browsing through Facebook for a long period of hours had made her unproductive. She felt can do a lot of productive things without Facebook.

Well, I am not sharing this story to deactivate your Facebook don't get me wrong. I do often catch myself browsing through Facebook for long hours of time. I did have the idea of deactivating my Facebook just like my younger sister who does deactivate her fb when she does exam.

As always there is the advantage and disadvantage of certain activities. I believe my office mate did something that I am proud of. She had proven her self to be in control of social media not the social media taking control of her. Which brings me to challenge myself as well to take control of my Facebook time, making sure I do browse productively.

Just for a Show I am Writing This

Jason and Crystalina Evert-Romance Without Regret

It would be a hypocrite if I say that I do not look at a woman's body with lust.
I do and it remains a day to day challenge.

With humor and gentleness the message of love from couples, Jason and Crystalina Evert had greatly help me today.

Life is a Constant Change

At this time, my sister would now be in Dubai.
I have mixed feelings as she leaves home. I would say, my sister is close to me.
How close? You may be asking.
Well, I would say as close as a friend to whom I often spend the midnight telling my stories.

Well, I am still thankful I have my younger sister. haha. (I hope my younger sister reads this blog.) I would jokingly tell my younger sister that I lost someone who could relate to my love life stories. My younger sister is about 8 years younger than me so she often tell me she can't relate to my love life stories.

Anyways, it is not only my sister is away from home my brother is away too.
After coming from a days work. I get the feeling of going home to an empty house.

My simple take away for the night's blog is this. Life is a constant change and nothing stays the same.
It is one of life's reality that I am challenge to accept. But whether I accept it or not life goes on without my consent. Ouch! I just have to surrender and be excited of the changes for the better.

See You Later

Today, I went shopping with my sister.
She is finally going to work abroad.

I do have mixed emotions about my sister's departure.
I am very happy for her and sad to not one but two of my siblings.

I believe I need to more forward and accept that life is a constant change.
At the same time I am consoled that I would be following her later.
